What to Expect with the HalfLytely and Bisacodyl Tablet Bowel Prep Kit

Be sure to follow your doctor’s instructions and carefully read the information that comes with the HalfLytely and Bisacodyl Tablet Bowel Prep Kit.

The day before your colonoscopy, take 1 bisacodyl delayed-release tablet with water. A bowel movement occurs (usually in 1 to 6 hours) after taking the bisacodyl delayed-release tablet. Begin drinking the solution after 6 hours even if a bowel movement has not occurred by then.

Tear open one flavor pack of choice and pour into HalfLytely bottle. Disacrd unused packs. Solution can be used with or without the flavor packs. Dilute the HalfLytely by adding drinking water up to the top line of the HalfLytely bottle. Cap the bottle and shake it to dissolve the powder.

Drink 1 (8 oz) glass every 10 minutes (about 8 glasses). Drink all of the solution.

You will still have loose bowel movements for about 1 to 2 hours after you finish drinking the solution.

In clinical studies the most common side effects (>3%) that people experienced were overall discomfort, abdominal fullness, abdominal cramping, nausea, and vomiting. Before your bowels start to move, you may experience some of these side effects.

If you have severe bloating, distention or abdominal pain, the administration of the solution should be slowed or temporarily discontinued until the symptoms go away. Call your doctor if you have any questions about taking the HalfLytely and Bisacodyl Tablet Bowel Prep Kit.
